Butterflies In The Meadows

Nadine asked me to participate in a drawing challenge with the theme BUTTERFLIES. I am not an artist, I cannot draw at all, but said yes anyway. I can at least show you some photos.

I can tell you, there ar no butterflies around here, at the moment. The snow is lying a  heavy blanket over everything. The neighbours houses are sinking deeper and deeper down into the snow. No, there are no butterflies around, not even in hiding. They are caterpillars now, waiting for their metamorphosis, to become butterflies for a very, very short time. They are ugly, hairy insects, despised by everyone. Only in our memory, and imagination, are they butterflies now.

In my memory I can see them, flying around in our own  meadow. Brown, yellow, red, a little of blue, all very beautiful. There are myriads of them, stopping at a daisy here, a bluebell there. Now and then resting on a stone. Even the landscape are waiting for its metamorphosis  now. It is barren, cold, wet, grey, hard. In the summer, it will fold out its wings, and get back its lush again, its intense beauty For a short time, like the butterflies.

We do not cut down the grass before the daisies are finished, and I think the butterflies love it. See link to Tiny Woolf and the other participants here

Se like ovenfor, lenke til Tiny Woolf.

    1. Takk til dere to her, Anne Lise og Siw.
